Inter ‘closing in on’ Lazio’s Ivan Provedel to partner Josep Martinez | OneFootball

Inter are closing in on the signing of Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, who would arrive as competition and cover for the Spaniard Josep Martinez.

Sky Sport reports that Inter plan to bid farewell to Yann Sommer this summer and intend to make Martinez their number one, alongside a reliable deputy.

Provedel matches that brief, having been one of Serie A’s most dependable goalkeepers during his spell at the Olimpico.

Lazio are expected to hand the starting role to Christos Mandas after his loan at Bournemouth, which would leave Provedel surplus to requirements.

Edoardo Motta, who joined in January, is likely to serve as Mandas’ deputy.

Inter are understood to be ready to pay about three million euros for Provedel, a modest fee as the Scudetto holders look to maintain depth in goal.
