Inter Milan are pushing to sign Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, but, according to Alfredo Pedulla, salary and fee hurdles still stand in the way.

The Nerazzurri have parted ways with Yann Sommer after three years and have promoted Josep Martinez to first choice, so they want an experienced deputy for the Spaniard.

Pedulla reports that Provedel currently earns more than Martinez, which could disrupt the balance with the 28-year-old set to be the club’s first choice. He also says Lazio want €4-5 million despite Provedel’s deal expiring next year, and Inter prefer a lower fee.

A meeting between Inter and Provedel’s entourage is expected in the coming days, Pedulla adds. Meanwhile, Tuttosport claims the former Spezia goalkeeper has asked Lazio to let him leave as he is keen to join Cristian Chivu’s squad.

Provedel has been Lazio’s first choice since 2022, yet Gennaro Gattuso plans to start the season with Christos Mandas as his main goalkeeper. The 24-year-old is returning from an unsuccessful loan at Bournemouth, who are unlikely to take up their option to buy.

Edoardo Motta impressed while covering for an injured Provedel in recent months and is set to be the second choice, leaving the experienced Italian on the fringes.
