Italian press reports revealed that the two clubs in Milan, the red and blue, Inter Milan and AC Milan, have already agreed to sell the historic San Siro stadium in order to build a better, more modern stadium that would suit both teams, as other European stadiums develop.

The news spread quickly in Italy and was widely welcomed by the fans!

The future of football in Milan hinges on a critical city council vote scheduled for Wednesday, following a major announcement from the city's mayor. Giuseppe Sala revealed on Tuesday during an interview with Italian radio station RTL 102.5 that a definitive agreement has been reached with the city's two rival clubs, AC Milan and Inter Milan, for the sale of the San Siro site.

This agreement paves the way for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art stadium, a project the clubs are targeting for completion by 2031. The mayor stated decisively, "If all goes according to plan, we will present the proposal to finalize the sale to the council tomorrow, as we have already reached an agreement with the clubs."

The urgency of the decision is driven by a firm deadline set by international football's governing body. Mayor Sala clarified the high stakes, explaining, "The new stadium must be ready by 2031 because UEFA has confirmed that Milan will not be included as a host city for Euro 2032 if San Siro remains in its current state." This ultimatum adds significant pressure to the council's impending vote, a decision that Italian publication Corriere dello Sport describes as pivotal for the entire city.
