Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez confirmed the club’s ambition to conquer the Champions League crown this season.
Speaking to Prime after a 3-0 home win against Monaco via FCInterNews, El Toro delivered an honest verdict on Inter’s European aspirations.
Lautaro Martinez has undoubtedly returned to his recognizable best following an underwhelming first half of the season.
Indeed, the 27-year-old entered tonight’s clash on a four-game scoring run in all competitions.
However, little did anyone know the Nerazzurri talisman would beat Monaco virtually single-handedly.
An utterly outstanding performance from the Argentine superstar helped Inter lock down a coveted top-four finish.
Lautaro bagged a hat-trick to demolish 10-man Monaco at Giuseppe Meazza, taking his European tally for the season to five.
“Today was a crucial match to win in order to secure a less demanding schedule,” Lautaro said after the game.
“Fortunately, the team had the right mindset and attitude. I’m happy because Inter won and made it into the top eight.

“This victory is dedicated to my son and my family, who were here at the stadium.
“When you have the right determination, that’s how it goes. With a numerical advantage, we were able to manage the game more calmly.
“Inter is a great club and deserves respect, just as we respect everyone. We reached the final two years ago and deserved more against City.
“Even against Atlético last season, we were unlucky – the missed penalty changed everything.
“But today, we’re here to take Inter to the top, and we’re doing it. I’m proud of everyone.”
Furthermore, the Inter star is flying over the moon as he keeps breaking club records.
“I’m proud. I’m breaking records. But what matters most to me is Inter winning, for the incredible fans we have.”
In addition to finishing off an impressive league-phase campaign on a high, Inter set themselves up nicely for the Milan derby.
Indeed, Simone Inzaghi will look to maintain this momentum when his charges take on fierce rivals AC Milan on Sunday.
“It’s our goal – we don’t hide it,” he replied when asked whether Inter want the trophy.
“We fight to win every competition. Now, we turn our focus to Milan, a huge match.
“In the league, we can’t afford to drop more points.”
