Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is heading for a January exit in the wake of growing dissatisfaction and a strained relationship with the club, according to Calciomercato.

Once highly rated following his impactful performances since joining from Sassuolo in 2023, Frattesi’s role at Inter has significantly diminished, sparking rumours of a mid-season departure.

Frattesi has dropped down the pecking order this term, having started just one Serie A game, with his other six league appearances coming as a substitute.

Despite being valued for his ability to influence games off the bench, the Italian desires a more prominent and regular role given the proximity of the 2026 World Cup.

With two years left on his current deal, Inter’s balance sheet values Frattesi at €16.4 million as of January 2026, down from his earlier valuation of nearly €40m.

This reflects the urgency and negotiation dynamics surrounding a potential transfer.

The Nerrazurri had promised a contract renewal last summer, but deteriorating circumstances have put that promise in doubt as both parties appear ready to reconsider their future together.

AS Roma stand out among clubs that have reportedly shown an interest, given Frattesi’s roots in their youth system.

Roma were keen to sign the 26-year-old last summer and are expected to reignite their interest in the winter transfer window.

Frattesi was given just over an hour of action in Inter’s Champions League triumph over Kairat Almaty, where they recorded a 10th win in 11 competitive matches.
