Fabio Caressa believes Inter Milan are starting to show signs of mental fatigue, just like Liverpool and Barcelona, after years of competing at the top level under constant pressure to win.

Speaking on Radio Deejay’s “Deejay Football Club,” with quotes via FCInter1908, the veteran journalist pointed to the Nerazzurri’s recent struggles to impose themselves.

Despite victories over Verona and Kairat Almaty, he argued that the team’s mental sharpness may be waning.

“I think Inter are a bit tired mentally,” Caressa explained.

“It’s been years now that they play every match, two or three times a week, with the same expectation to win.

“That builds up over time.”

He compared Inter’s situation to that of Liverpool and Barcelona.

Indeed, two clubs that have also shown inconsistency after long cycles of sustained success.

“It’s the same problem Liverpool are having this year, and Barcelona too.

“These teams have played at full intensity for years.

“This kind of football drains you more than before, especially when you’re always at the top,” he continued.

Caressa added that Cristian Chivu’s side will need to manage their energy levels carefully.

He suggested this would help avoid further dips over the season.

“It’s one thing to play for fourth place, another to play for first.

“If Inter don’t find a way to cope with this, they risk having these lapses all season and given their style of play, that could be costly.”
