Henrikh Mkhitaryan has become a bit of a modern-day Serie A icon, doing well for both Roma and Inter. Before that, the Armenian also had decent stints at Arsenal and Manchester United, with the player finding more favours in London.

As Inter’s season draws to a close, he is said to be considering retirement.

La Gazzetta dello Sport take note of Mkhitaryan’s comments after they sealed the title in the win over Parma.

He said: “I’ve had a great career, I’m happy to have done it and to have played football. I’m happy to have been part of Inter and to be a teammate of these guys, because they’ve extended my footballing life over the last four years. We have the last few games left, and then I’ll decide.”

It is believed Mkhitaryan spoke in past tense for a reason and that is because he is wondering whether to stop paying the game altogether. That is one of the thoughts in his head, with an exit from Inter now looking the most likely solution for his near future.

His contract at the Nerazzurri runs out in over a month. Renewing it would go against the Oaktree way of things and he seems all but set to walk away from Inter. But depending on the evaluations he makes, it could also mean the end of his career.
