Isaac Schmidt to join Young Boys from Leeds in deal worth around £2m

Isaac Schmidt’s two-year spell at Leeds United is over, with the full-back set to join Young Boys on a permanent deal.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the fee is around £2m and will cover his book value, meaning Leeds will not book a loss, with confirmation expected today.

Schmidt arrived in 2024 from FC St Gallen in a £2.5m transfer.

He did not convince Daniel Farke he could operate at full-back in the Championship title-winning side, and was instead used mostly as an attacker in brief cameos.

Last season he joined Werder Bremen on loan in the Bundesliga, but the stint did not lead to a permanent move. Young Boys have beaten competition to take him back to his native Switzerland this summer.
