Nicolo Barella reflected proudly on Inter Milan’s Serie A victory and praised head coach Cristian Chivu as the Nerazzurri edged Roma 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, climbing to the top of the table alongside the Giallorossi and Napoli.
The midfielder, who provided the decisive assist for Ange-Yoan Bonny’s winning goal, spoke to Sky Sport after the match and highlighted the importance of grinding out results in difficult stadiums.
“First of all, coming here and winning is never easy, so credit to Roma,” Barella said, via FCInterNews.
“It will be difficult for anyone to come and win here. We showed that we’re a great team. In the second half we dropped off a little, probably because of all the international matches, but the key thing was to unlock the game and build confidence.
“We also created other chances, so we’ll take everything – both the tough moments and the positives.”

Barella underlined that Inter’s current solidity is the product of both belief and experience.
“I think we’ve always been strong, even during difficult moments,” he continued.
“There have been disappointments, but the mental side counts for a lot in this sport – it’s not just about your legs and feet.
“We needed confidence and to find ourselves again.”
The Italy international also reserved special praise for Cristian Chivu, whose calm guidance has helped the team rediscover its rhythm after a rocky start.
“The coach has been an example for all of us,” Barella added.
“He’s lived through disappointments and incredible victories. Who better than him to guide us through this kind of rebirth?”
With the win in Rome, Inter stretched their unbeaten run and proved once more that Chivu’s side are finding both their balance and belief at the summit of Serie A.
