Jones urges Liverpool to bounce back after defeats

Curtis Jones has spoken with determination after Liverpool’s consecutive losses, insisting that the focus must be on responding rather than dwelling on setbacks.

Jones reflects on European disappointment

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Galatasaray followed the late reversal to Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Two defeats in a row is a rarity for this team, but Jones was pragmatic in his assessment. “That’s just part of the game. I say it all the time, you must be mad if you think you can win every game,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

The midfielder acknowledged the standard of opposition, adding, “Of course you would like to but the reality is the teams we play are world-class teams and it’s normal if you lose games, it’s just how you bounce back.”

Calm response needed

Liverpool dominated possession in Istanbul but fell to Victor Osimhen’s early penalty. Despite chances created, the Reds were unable to convert pressure into goals. Jones called for composure in the aftermath. “We’ve got a huge game in three days, so we have to go again. The lads have to stay calm, it’s fine, it’s part of it. It’s not fine that we lose but I think it’s fine in the way that we just have to stay calm. It will all change, of course it will.”

His words underline a confidence that Liverpool can recover quickly, with Chelsea awaiting at Stamford Bridge.

Positives despite result

Jones saw areas of encouragement despite the disappointment. “It’s always hard when you lose games, of course it is. But I thought the lads actually played well. There were positives from the whole of the game,” he reflected.

He pointed to moments of quality in midfield. “There were positives at times when they came and pressed, where me, Ryan [Gravenberch] and Flo [Wirtz] played through, turned and went. But we would have liked to have more shots and obviously more goals.”

Eyes on Chelsea clash

The fixture list allows little time for Liverpool to dwell. The trip to Chelsea is a chance to show resilience and shift momentum. Jones summed it up simply: “It was a hard game but we’ll go again.”

That message captures the mood at Anfield. The defeats may sting, but the response will define whether this is a mere stumble or the start of a deeper problem.
