James Morrison plays down Jayson Molumby link after West Brom win at Peterborough | OneFootball

James Morrison said he was unaware of any Wrexham move for Jayson Molumby after the West Brom midfielder featured in a 2-0 pre-season win at Peterborough.

ExpressAndStar.com understands Albion have received no offers for the Republic of Ireland international, who played almost 80 minutes at London Road.

Molumby had been linked with ambitious Championship rivals Wrexham, who last week sealed the £five million signing of former Baggies loanee Danny Imray.

Morrison said Molumby performed well against the Posh and is an important character in his squad. He turns 27 this week and has two years left on a deal extended in early 2025. This is his sixth season at Albion.

After the break, Aune Heggebo and Barney Stewart scored to secure a deserved victory for the visitors. Defender George Campbell wore the armband, though Molumby has often captained.

Morrison spoke of building good habits and a winning mentality. He praised the work-rate on a difficult afternoon for weather and pitch, and said tweaks at half-time improved their play against Peterborough’s press.

With seven days until the season begins in the EFL Cup at Rotherham, Albion are trying to strengthen midfield options. Norway international Felix Horn Myhre is a leading target, and Albion are understood to have lodged a bid with SK Brann. Morrison also highlighted excitement around training and said the squad’s passion can sometimes matter more to him than talent.
