Josh Maja set to join Le Havre on free after rejecting West Brom offer | OneFootball

Josh Maja is set to join Ligue 1 side Le Havre on a free transfer after leaving West Brom this summer.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 27-year-old turned down fresh terms after three seasons at The Hawthorns and is set to sign a two-year contract with an option of a third.

Maja arrived at Albion in 2023 after leaving Bordeaux. Injuries hampered both campaigns, yet he finished as 12-goal top scorer in his second season despite missing the entire second half.

He scored three times in his final nine appearances last season, netting against Wrexham, Watford and Preston to help secure seven points. Head coach James Morrison had wanted to keep him, and Albion made a new offer in May.

The Nigeria international previously played for Fulham and Sunderland, and featured for Bordeaux in Ligue 2. Le Havre, coached by former Middlesbrough midfielder Didier Digard, finished 14th in Ligue 1 last term.

Maja departs West Brom with 19 goals in 81 appearances. Karlan Grant, another player the club hoped to retain, chose to return to Championship rivals Charlton.
