Jean-Pierre Rivère urges Maurice Cohen to consider Walter Benitez return to OGC Nice | OneFootball

At Dante’s farewell ceremony in Nice, former president Jean-Pierre Rivère publicly urged new chief Maurice Cohen to consider bringing back Walter Benitez. Dante was honoured for his 10 years at the club.

According to Nice-Matin, Rivère said he had spoken with Benitez in recent months and that the goalkeeper dreams of returning to OGC Nice. He added that it was over to Cohen.

Benitez, who was also at Villa Masséna, was taken aback by the public appeal but signalled his affection for the city and club, saying he feels at home there.

He has played only eight matches for Crystal Palace this season after joining on a free last summer. He had returned to Nice to salute Dante’s retirement.

The Argentine spent 2016 to 2022 at Nice, making 188 appearances, then moved to PSV Eindhoven from 2022 to 2025 and to Palace in 2025-26. The situation remains one to watch.
