Jorginho has converted 10 penalties from 10 for Flamengo, his hop and finish routine putting him top among elite Brazilian players with at least 10 attempts.

He struck his 10th in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Santos. According to Globo.com, since arriving in Brazilian football he has the best penalty record among top-flight players with at least 10 attempts, and in that span only Alan Patrick also reached 10, missing one.

Across the past three seasons, the closest challengers are Reinaldo with 12 of 13, Lucas Moura 11 of 12, and Alex Telles 10 of 11. Next come Raphael Veiga at 11 of 13, Vegetti 14 of 17, Hulk 16 of 20, and Alan Patrick 22 of 28.

Jorginho accepts goalkeepers are studying his run up, so he might start to vary it. He said new options could arrive to make their job harder, ensuring they cannot prepare for only one style.

Of his 10 Flamengo penalties, seven have sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. In the last two, against Fábio and Gabriel Brazão, the keepers waited and chose the right side but still could not reach the ball.
