Jorginho will miss Flamengo’s next Brasileirão fixture after being sent off following defeat at São Paulo. He was shown a red card after the match for protesting to referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he will be suspended for the second round meeting with Internacional at the Maracanã next Wednesday at 19:00 Brasília time. Evertton Araújo is the favourite to replace the Italo-Brazilian.
Flamengo’s league campaign began with a 2-1 loss at Morumbi. In the final move, Arrascaeta went down in the area, but Sampaio declined to award a penalty.
After the game, Jorginho told TV Globo he delivered strong criticism of Brazilian officiating and complained about São Paulo’s time-wasting. He said the ball barely rolled during six minutes of added time.
Despite the league ban on Wednesday, he will be available for the Supercopa do Brasil against Corinthians at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília on Sunday at 16:00.
