Juan Iglesias ‘to join’ Sevilla despite Getafe’s European qualification | OneFootball

Getafe’s European qualification will not alter Juan Iglesias’ pre-agreed free transfer to Sevilla from 30 June, according to La Colina De Nervion.

The defender will play at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán next season once the deal is announced. A post from his personal doctor briefly referenced success in Sevilla before being edited, a moment taken as an unofficial confirmation.

In January, ABC de Sevilla reported a four-year agreement. In March, Cadena COPE’s Tiempo de Juego said Getafe were pushing to renew amid strong outside interest. Later, Radio Marca reported the full-back had even completed a medical with Sevilla earlier in the year.

The move sits within work led by sporting director Antonio Cordón, who will formally depart on 31 May. He left a shortlist of four, though plans have shifted, with Marius Marin and Patrik Mercado now discarded.

Next to be finalised alongside Iglesias will be Arouna Sangante, a Senegalese centre-back joining on a free from Le Havre. Sevilla are preparing quick announcements to bolster the defence at zero cost.
