Manchester United will be ‘front of the queue’ if an opportunity arises to sign Sandro Tonali this summer, according to MailSport.
Although Red Devils chiefs are of the belief that a deal may prove costly, they retain their interest ahead of a major midfield revamp in the transfer window.

As things stand, INEOS’ shortlist sees Tonali rank above Adam Wharton but below Elliot Anderson.
However, it is widely anticipated that Manchester City will go all-out in pursuit of the latter, and they are believed to be leading the race for his signature.
United would be willing to match Nottingham Forest’s price demands for Anderson, but it’s personal terms that City will be able to trump their arch-rivals on; INEOS’ arrival at Old Trafford led to a new salary cap being swiftly implemented amongst the squad, so no players are receiving exorbitant wages for the duration of their contracts.
Newcastle will do their utmost to keep hold of Tonali, though if it comes between losing him or Bruno Guimaraes, they’d undoubtedly opt for the former option.
United have established interest in both stars, yet only one is likely to leave in one window.
Guimaraes holds more of a personal connection to the Magpies, having signed back in 2022 and played an integral role in their Champions League return and in securing their first domestic trophy in 70 years in the form of the Carabao Cup.
On the other hand, 25-year-old Tonali, whom Paul Scholes hailed as ‘brilliant’, is adamant about continuing to play in the UCL next season, and Newcastle currently sit 12th-placed heading into matchweek 32.
