Michael Olise and Lennart Karl were at the heart of a goal-filled afternoon at the Allianz Arena. Their performances not only made a decisive contribution to the win against Freiburg – they also each wrote a piece of club history.
The 6-2 win over the Breisgau side was not only another gala performance, but also featured two historic firsts. At 23 years and 345 days old, Olise became the youngest Bayern player ever to be directly involved in five goals in a Bundesliga match.
He is also the first player in ten years to score a brace and three assists in a Bundesliga match. He scored his first goal after a fine interplay with Karl, the second followed in the closing stages after a remarkable solo run.

Lennart Karl, the shooting star of the current Bayern season, was in the starting eleven following Serge Gnabry’s injury and made impressive use of his opportunity once again. The 17-year-old first scored the important equalizer to make it 1-2 and then set up Olise to equalize. This makes him the youngest player in the club’s history to score and assist in a Bundesliga match.
However, the game began with a setback: two early goals conceded from set-pieces caused disillusionment. Bayern only got back into the game with Karl’s first successful goal.
After the break, the league leaders then took command, with Upamecano scoring from an Olise corner to take the lead and Kane adding to his tally shortly afterwards after combining from several positions. Jackson added the fifth goal before Olise rounded off the scoring with his second – and completed his record-breaking evening.
Next Wednesday’s top match in the Champions League against FC Arsenal awaits, where Olise and Karl will be looking to set new records.
