Kevin Phillips says clubs pursuing Anthony Patterson this summer should not hesitate over Sunderland’s asking price, and he urged Wrexham to act.
According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland value the goalkeeper at around £eight million to £10 million, with Wrexham, Wolves and Millwall credited with interest.
Patterson was pivotal in promotion to the Premier League last year, then lost first-choice status to Dutch international Robin Roefs in pre-season and joined Millwall on loan in January.
Phillips thinks someone will pay what Sunderland want, arguing the figure is reasonable for a proven Championship keeper with solid experience.
He warned that delaying could allow another club to move first, and suggested talks are likely progressing in the background. If he were Wrexham, he would get the deal done.
