Valencia president Kiat Lim held talks at Paterna on Tuesday morning. According to Superdeporte, he arrived at 11.30am at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna to meet CEO of Football Ron Gourlay and head coach Carlos Corberán.
With the season ongoing, plans for next season’s squad and the budget to fund it head the agenda with Peter Lim’s son, majority shareholder since October 2014. By just after 4pm he was still in the meeting.
Top of recruitment is appointing a sporting director or technical secretary who knows the market and Spanish, easing the coach’s load. Gourlay has framed this as a second phase, with a two-month window now close to expiring.
The visit comes about 100 days after his previous trip. He has not watched a match from the Mestalla directors’ box since taking the role in March 2025, and is reviewing the club and team.
Nou Mestalla is another focus. The project is scheduled for summer 2027 after city planning approvals, and Lim wants to assess progress.
He saw the site years ago when work was halted, soon after becoming a director, but this will be his first visit since activity resumed in January 2025. The stadium is in process of becoming a 2030 World Cup venue for Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
His previous stop at Paterna was on 17 December for the AGM, when he was later seen at first-team and academy training. Before returning to Singapore, more meetings are planned with executives, including general director Javier Solds.
