Captain Joshua Kimmich scored twice as Germany beat Luxemburg 4-0 in Sinsheim on Friday night. David Raum had opened the scoring before Kimmich added a second and also the fourth either side of Serge Gnabry’s strike. The visitors had to play with 10 men for over 70 minutes after Dirk Carlson was sent off for handling in the box, allowing Kimmich to score his first from the penalty spot.

Five Bayern players start

As well as Kimmich and Gnabry, Julian Nagelsmann also fielded Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlović and Leon Goretzka from the start. Raum’s early free-kick set Germany on their way before Carlson’s dismissal after review for preventing a Gnabry shot inside the area with his arm. Captain Kimmich stepped up to convert into the bottom right corner with 21 minutes gone.
