Jonas Urbig has been handed playing time in the DFB-Pokal earlier this season, but Bayern Munich will rely on Manuel Neuer in goal for Wednesday’s quarter-final against RB Leipzig.
“Manuel Neuer will start tomorrow,” confirmed FC Bayern coach Vincent Kompany at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We always have to treat the goalkeepers a bit specially. Jonas Urbig's progression and the plans for his development are something we've been talking about for a long time.
"He's already played in important games for us, and he'll continue to get games in the future, which will always be planned with Michael Rechner and Manu. When he plays, he's also supported by Manu. We have a good flow there."
Bayern expect to have a full squad available for the game, just as they had for Sunday's 5-1 win over Hoffenheim.
“It's a positive that the boys are fit and I hope it stays that way until the end of the season. We'll rotate these players as often as possible. Basically it's a positive situation. If all goes well today, we'll have a full squad again tomorrow,” said Kompany.
With all players fit, Kompany will have to leave some out of the squad, with the Belgian coach set to make the decision on Tuesday evening.
"It's a decision that has to be made, it's a positive because it means the boys are fit. Of course, I'm not happy for the players who have to stay at home, but I am about the fact we have every player available."
