Barcelona are moving closer towards one of the most important financial breakthroughs of recent years after La Liga has taken for granted that the club will return to operating under the famous 1:1 rule this summer, reports Santi Ovalle.

There is growing confidence around Barcelona’s economic situation ahead of the new transfer window.

For several months now, the Catalan giants have believed they would successfully return to the 1:1 financial rule before June 30, and the latest developments appear to support that optimism.

Notably, this development is extremely important because it would dramatically improve the club’s ability to operate freely in the transfer market after multiple seasons of strict financial limitations.

How was it made possible?

One of the biggest reasons behind this growing confidence is the ongoing redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona reportedly estimated earlier this year that the renovated stadium could eventually generate around €350 million in increased revenue, significantly strengthening the club’s long-term finances.

The opening of the third tier at Camp Nou is also expected to become a major source of income.

Reports suggest the expanded stadium structure could bring Barcelona an additional €83 million per season once fully operational.

The financial picture has also improved further following recent developments involving the VIP seating project at Spotify Camp Nou.

According to the report, an auditor recently approved €71 million in outstanding VIP seat payments, providing another positive boost for Barcelona’s economic structure.

Another important factor involves Robert Lewandowski and the club’s wage bill situation.

The veteran striker currently earns a gross salary of around €24 million per season, and his expected departure would provide major financial relief for Barcelona moving forward.

Reducing one of the squad’s biggest salaries could create much-needed room for new registrations and future signings.

Crucial breakthrough for Barcelona

For Barcelona, the return to the 1:1 rule would completely transform how sporting director Deco approaches the transfer market this summer.

Under the current restrictions, Barcelona have only been allowed to reinvest 60% of a departing player’s salary or roughly 20% of transfer income into new operations.

Those limitations have severely complicated squad planning and forced the club to rely heavily on free transfers, loans, and creative financial structures.

However, operating again under the La Liga 1:1 rule means Barcelona would be allowed to reinvest 100% of transfer income and salary savings directly into the squad.
