The president-elect of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, was seen on Thursday morning at the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona, where he held a meeting with influential agent Pini Zahavi, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The meeting forms part of a series of key conversations to define the club’s immediate sporting future.

Flick renewal and Lewandowski future on the agenda

Zahavi travelled to the Catalan capital with a clear agenda: to finalise the renewal of head coach Hansi Flick, whose new contract is practically agreed until 2028 with an option to extend until 2029.

The agreement between the parties is almost complete, but there are still details to be formalised before it is made official.

During his stay in Barcelona, the agent is also expected to address the situation of Robert Lewandowski, another of his clients and one of the important figures in the Blaugrana setup.

The Polish veteran striker’s contract expires on 30 June, and his future remains open to several possibilities.

Zahavi, when asked about a possible contract extension for the striker, remained cautious and avoided going into detail, limiting himself to saying: “We will talk”.

Now, discussions with the club are already taking place today in the presence of the president-elect, Laporta.

In Lewandowski’s case, Barcelona are considering a possible contract extension dependent on his role within the team – meaning a reduced salary.

Meanwhile, the player’s entourage has received interest from several European clubs and other leagues, adding complexity to a negotiation that is expected to be decisive in the coming days.
