Coritiba beat Mirassol 1-0 at the Maião, rising from sixth to fifth in the Brasileirão and handing the hosts their first home league defeat of the season.
Alesson went closest before the break, heading against the bar in the first minute of first half stoppage time from a Negueba cross.
Joaquín Lavega decided it in the 64th minute, the Uruguay forward steering a left-footed finish from the right side of the six-yard box into the bottom right corner.
Pedro Rangel was outstanding for Coxa, making six saves and thwarting Tiquinho Soares early on to preserve the platform for the visitors.
Walter kept Mirassol in the game, pushing away Pedro Rocha's drive (68.), before late pressure from the hosts was repelled by a packed defence.
After half-time changes, with Breno Lopes and Vini Paulista introduced, Coxa carried more threat and began creating the openings that preceded Lavega's winner.
Mirassol had 69.2% possession and fired 21 attempts, but Rangel's handling and Coxa's 37 clearances told the story.
