Lazio have removed Polymarket branding from their website and online store after the platform was blacklisted in Italy, but deal-broker Salvatore Palella said in a post that the sponsorship remains in force and that payments from the New York-based firm will continue.
The US company became Lazio’s main shirt sponsor in April on a contract running until June 2028, with an option to extend to 2029.
The agreement is reportedly worth around €22 million to the club.
Italian authorities blacklisted Polymarket for unauthorised betting activities and blocked its website, while the company argues its prediction markets differ from traditional betting.
Palella, who brokered the deal, said the logo removal was a provisional step and attributed the suspension to new guidance from Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency, adding that neither Lazio nor PalComm were involved. He also said Lazio had already received, and would continue to receive, compensation under the agreement, with the same applying to PalComm Italia.
