Il Messaggero reports that Bournemouth made a late 15 million push to keep Christos Mandas, but Lazio turned it down. With the purchase clause expiring on Monday, the goalkeeper is expected to return to the club.

The Greek endured a difficult season, limited to one appearance in all competitions. Maurizio Sarri preferred Ivan Provedel, handing Mandas only the Coppa Italia win over AC Milan.

The 24-year-old moved to Bournemouth in January on loan for 2.5 million with a 17.5 million option, but did not play. Andoni Iraola kept faith in the tried-and-trusted Djordje Petrovic.

Incoming Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso would like to entrust Mandas with a starting role next season. Edoardo Motta will act as his understudy after impressing in the final three months, while Alessio Furlanetto should remain third choice.

By contrast, Provedel looks set to leave Formello. The 32-year-old has reportedly agreed terms with Inter Milan, who have identified him to replace Yann Sommer and back up Josep Martinez, now promoted to No.1. Talks between the clubs continue, with the fee still to be settled.
