Lee Grant confirmed Alex Pattison sustained a hamstring injury during Walsall’s 1-0 pre-season defeat at AFC Telford United, with Grant wary of setting any timeline.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Grant said it does not look good for the next week and that the midfielder will be assessed over the next week or so. He added that, if he had to guess, Walsall could be without him for a while, but he would not speculate.
Pattison came on at half-time in Shropshire, then went down in clear discomfort shortly after the hour and could not continue.
Rico Browne was caught late shortly after his introduction, and Sven Sprangler fell awkwardly when challenging for the ball. Both received treatment and continued, with Grant expecting only knocks.
Injuries hampered Pattison at Bradford City, and he missed three key games during Walsall’s League Two run-in last season. The 28-year-old joined from Bradford in January and made 19 appearances, scoring once with three assists.
James Connolly started and captained the team on his first Walsall appearance, while Ronan Maher returned from an elbow injury after replacing Pattison. Walsall face Luton Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.
