Leeds United loanee Harry Gray missed out with a slight hamstring issue as Rotherham United were beaten 5-0 at Peterborough United, the game that preceded the sacking of head coach Hamshaw on Wednesday morning.
The club said in a statement that they are six points from safety in Sky Bet League One and that the process to appoint a new first-team manager is under way.
Gray, 17, joined Rotherham on loan in January for the second half of the 2025/26 season and has been a regular, logging more than 1,000 senior minutes.
Across 12 appearances for the Millers, the Leeds United striker has scored two goals.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Gray will remain with Rotherham to rehabilitate what is thought to be a minor injury, or return to Thorp Arch.
