Leeds United passed up two chances to sign Martin Baturina, and now face a €50m (£43m) valuation after his revival at Como.
In summer 2024, a £25m offer was accepted by Dinamo Zagreb, but the midfielder rejected a deadline-day switch with Leeds still in the Championship. Fabrizio Romano reports that Leeds reopened talks in January.
Como stepped in a year later, agreeing a deal worth €18m rising to €25m, and Baturina joined Cesc Fabregas’ Serie A side in 2025. His start in Italy was subdued.
Talks in January with Como and the player’s camp centred on a fee around €30m during his quietest spell, yet Como turned it down and kept faith. The club were covered by a contract running to 2030.
Before the turn of the year he had one goal and no assists in Serie A. After January he produced five goals and three assists, a sharp uptick.
Como’s stance has been rewarded, while Leeds’ early identification and mid-season return brought no deal. The midfielder now carries a price roughly double what Leeds had set aside.
