Leeds United have published their retained list, confirming Illan Meslier is to leave after seven years and that Facundo Buonanotte has returned to Brighton, while talks continue over Sam Byram, Alex Cairns and Karl Darlow. The loanee played only 36 Premier League minutes after arriving in January.
Leeds want to keep Darlow within their goalkeeping group next season, though he has a number of suitors. The Athletic reports that Manchester United want to make him their number two this summer. He replaced Meslier in the promotion run-in and stepped in last season after Lucas Perri was dropped by Daniel Farke due to form.
Byram has been widely expected to depart after playing only 86 minutes last season. Cairns returned to Elland Road to bolster the goalkeeping department in a near player-coach capacity.
Earlier this week, captain Ethan Ampadu signed a new four-year contract. His previous deal ran to summer 2027 with an optional extra year.
Academy departures include Connor Douglas, Devon Brockie, Lewis Pirie and Marley Wilson. Striker Pirie joined from Aberdeen in 2023 and featured sparingly for the Under-21s. Leeds have offered new terms to 20-year-old keeper Darryl Ombang, who had loans with Darlington and FC United of Manchester.
Professional deals have been offered to Freddie Lane, Jack Morris, Jacob Render, Joshua Hamilton, Will Firth and Northern Ireland Under-19 international Luke Matykiewicz. The club have taken a third-year option on 18-year-old goalkeeper George Kenyon, while scholars Alex Baird and Elton Simo will leave when their deals end.
