Leeds United have opened the window strongly and hope to accelerate business, with James Trafford a key focus. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the club are hopeful a deal can be struck for the Manchester City goalkeeper after adding free agent winger Harry Wilson and £34m centre-back Tarik Muharemovic.
The need for a new number one is clear after Karl Darlow left as a free agent to join Manchester United. A new deal was on the table at Elland Road but plans to sign a goalkeeper meant he was not guaranteed the starting spot. Leeds also continue to pursue Julian Brandt, while a line has been drawn regarding another priority target.
Lucas Perri’s future remains uncertain amid interest from Torino. He is unlikely to depart before a first choice arrives.
Illan Meslier exited last month at the end of his contract and has since joined Arsenal, where he is currently third choice.
Sebastiaan Bornauw has been linked in Germany with a summer move to FC Koln, who are seeking defensive experience. It is unclear whether the Belgian wants to leave or if Leeds would sanction a sale.
Pascal Struijk has joined Brighton in a deal understood to be worth £18m plus £2m in add-ons, with a sell-on clause included. Isaac Schmidt moved to BSC Young Boys for around £2m, protecting the full-back’s book value.
