Sarah Pratt, a 48-year-old Leeds United fan from Pudsey, is running one mile every day until the club strings together five straight victories. “People said you should do it,” she said.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, she was inspired by The United Strand, a Manchester United fan refusing to cut his hair until his team win five in a row. “I started doing Leeds United content on TikTok and I did a video and I spoke about the guy from Manchester United that’s growing his hair, laughing about how crazy this is and that he’ll be growing his hair forever,” she said.
“90 per cent of the time my dogs who are springers run the mile with me so they are hoping that Leeds United never win five in a row because they love it.” She sometimes invites fellow fans to join her.
She records each run for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. She has run for 273 straight days, including Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“There’s some days that I’ve thought why did I do this but I just think well I’ve got to. I’m not going to end it now because it's raining.”
A lifelong supporter who has followed Leeds across Europe, she says the aim is to lift the mood online. “I hope that people speak about Leeds United and the team a little bit more positively over social media.”
