Nuno Espirito Santo has outlined West Ham’s fitness picture before Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds United at the London Stadium, confirming Crysencio Summerville remains under assessment.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the former Leeds winger has been sidelined since a calf problem in last month’s fifth-round meeting with Brentford, missing the last two matches and the Netherlands’ March fixtures, amid suggestions he could return after the break.
Espirito Santo said the squad are being checked after the international window, noting some positives and some issues from those away. On Summerville, he said they are trying to bring him back as soon as possible, assessing day by day, and any decision for Sunday would depend on how he feels closer to kick-off.
Despite Summerville’s absence, 10 Hammers were away with their countries. Konstantinos Mavropanos sustained a head injury in Greece’s 1-0 defeat to Paraguay last Friday, was withdrawn with seven minutes remaining, and then missed Tuesday’s game against Hungary in Budapest.
Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is also a doubt after a calf injury in the warm-up before the match at Aston Villa prior to the break, and he did not feature in that game.
Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has not played since an under-21 appearance in September because of a back issue.
