Leeds United’s Premier League season petered out in a 3-0 loss at relegated West Ham, Daniel Farke calling it a game too far without key players despite returns for Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle. The visitors faded in the heat as the Hammers claimed the points.

Fourteenth place is still a fine finish, though a win could have lifted them to 12th and extended the unbeaten run. Travelling fans kept a party mood, chanting through a list of West Ham’s 2026/27 opponents. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, players were applauded at full-time despite the display.

Jaka Bijol was Leeds’ standout, robust in his box until departing at 1-0. Brenden Aaronson struggled in the final third, twice turning away from shooting chances and losing a 50:50 with Crysencio Summerville. Joe Rodon was beaten as West Ham scored from a corner, an uncharacteristic lapse.

Anger towards the West Ham board swelled around the goals, with home ire directed at the directors’ box.

Pre-match colour included Underworld’s Darren Emmerson on DJ duty and Facundo Buonanotte trying in vain to move Lucas Perri from target practice. Both sets marked a memorial montage, with a huge cheer as Billy Bonds’ image bookended the tribute.

Before kick-off, Ethan Ampadu shared a light moment with referee Anthony Taylor while awaiting Jarrod Bowen. During play he made mischief with substitute Callum Wilson over a long throw, then later berated the official. At half-time the announcer tried to whip up noise for Emmerson’s set.

Ampadu also checked on Summerville after treatment. Home celebrations for the first two goals again carried fury towards the board and David Sullivan. At full-time Dominic Calvert-Lewin consoled Bogle, then Struijk sought out Summerville for a supportive arm, and young Hammers fans chanted no VAR on the way out.
