Leeds United’s fine Premier League campaign ended tamely with a 3-0 loss at London Stadium to relegated West Ham United. Daniel Farke felt it was a game too far without key players, even with Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle back from injury.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Jaka Bijol was Leeds’ pick of the bunch, defending his area with typical gusto, and it was 1-0 when he went off.
The travelling support kept a party mood, teasing soon-to-be-Championship hosts with chants listing West Ham’s 2026/27 opponents, then saluted the squad at full-time.
Leeds missed a chance to climb, with 12th possible had they won, and instead finished 14th. Farke and captain Ethan Ampadu were desperate to sign off on a high.
Brenden Aaronson toiled in the final third, his choices letting him down. He turned back in a shooting position looking for a free-kick, his efforts were tame, and he lost a 50:50 shoulder duel with Crysencio Summerville.
Joe Rodon, usually dominant in the air, failed to get off the ground as West Ham scored from a corner. It was an uncharacteristically flat outing.
Off camera, DJ Darren Emmerson handled the warm-up soundtrack, while Leeds fans applauded tributes to Hammers lost, a roar greeting Billy Bonds’ image. Ampadu shared a light moment with referee Anthony Taylor, then claimed sub Callum Wilson blocked a long throw before raging at a later decision. After the whistle, Struijk sought out Summerville to offer support.
