Leeds United’s opening-weekend opponents Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as head coach, the club said in a statement on Monday.

Forest endured a troubled 2025-26 league campaign while pursuing Europa League success, cycling through Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and, most recently, Vitor Pereira. Appointed in February after Dyche’s exit, Pereira kept Forest up in 16th, five points above the drop and two behind Leeds.

Last week Forest activated a mutual termination clause in Pereira’s deal, clearing the way for the outgoing Crystal Palace boss to take over.

Glasner has lifted both the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League, becoming only the third head coach to achieve that double. He led VfL Wolfsburg into the UEFA Champions League and won the 2021/22 Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.

In England he won the 2024/25 FA Cup in his first full Premier League season, then the FA Community Shield, and the UEFA Conference League the following campaign.
