Lennart Karl is celebrating his 18th birthday in style after his contract with FC Bayern Munich automatically extended and converted into a professional deal.
When his previous agreement was prolonged last summer, a clause was inserted stipulating that the contract would turn professional once the highly rated prospect reached the age of 18. As a result, Karl’s deal, which had originally been set to run until 2028, now extends through to 2029.
The new terms reportedly see his salary rise to around €2 million per year. However, discussions about a further extension could already be on the horizon. According to reports from BILD, Bayern are keen to tie the youngster down until 2031, with a significant wage increase that could see his earnings climb to between €7-8 million annually.
For now, though, contract negotiations are not Karl’s priority. As reported by Kicker, the attacking midfielder is fully focused on establishing himself at Bayern and continuing to impress with his performances.
Looking ahead, there is also the prospect of international recognition. Participation at the upcoming World Cup in Canada, the USA and Mexico remains a possibility, although national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann has yet to include him in the senior squad.
