Barcelona claimed their second trophy of a potential quadruple as they retained the Liga F title with a 4-1 derby day success against Espanyol on match day 26.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid conceded late in a frustrating 1-1 draw against DUX Logroño. Here, we will round up all the action from the most recent round of Liga F fixtures.

Barcelona clinch Liga F title

Due to their involvement in the Women’s Champions League semi-finals, Barcelona’s derby clash against Espanyol was brought forward to April 22.

The Blaugrana cruised to all three points to seal their seventh consecutive Liga F title. Carla Julià Martínez required just two minutes to put the visitors in front, drilling a low shot into the far bottom corner. Laia Balleste soon levelled from the penalty spot, before Caroline Graham Hansen quickly restored Barcelona’s slender advantage. The Norway international made a darting run to latch onto Clara Serrajordi’s inch-perfect through and applied the finishing touch with a neat finish past the onrushing Romy Salvador.

Martine Fenger went on to net a second-half brace to wrap up a 4-1 victory and Barcelona’s second trophy of the season. They will now aim to add the Champions League and the Copa de la Reina to the league title and the Supercopa de España.

Logroño salvage point from Real Madrid clash

DUX Logroño remain five points clear of the drop zone after they held Real Madrid to a draw on Saturday. Las Blancas made the perfect start to proceedings, requiring just four minutes to open the scoring through Linda Caicedo. The Colombian star neatly linked up with Alba Redondo before slotting a composed finish beyond María Miralles. Real Madrid created and spurned a number of chances to add to their slender lead, ensuring Logroño remained within touching distance until they pulled level in the 11th minute of stoppage time. A long ball forward found the head of Annelie Leitner, who guided the ball past Merle Frohms at the near post.

Real Sociedad claim spoils on Liga F match day 26

The dropped points allowed Real Sociedad to close the gap to second-placed Real Madrid to three points. More importantly, La Real maintained their eight-point cushion to fourth-placed Costa Adeje Tenerife with a 2-0 home success against Madrid CFF. Claire Lavogez put the hosts in front with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half. The lead remained a narrow one until Cecilia Marcos doubled the advantage with her first Liga F goal of the season in the 90th minute.

Levante staring at relegation after latest defeat

The writing appears to be on the wall for basement side Levante following Saturday’s away defeat to Eibar.

Iara Lacosta put the hosts ahead inside the opening minute at Ipurua. Levante’s Carolina Marín spurned the chance to level the scoreline when she saw her 34th-minute penalty saved by Eunate Astralaga. Matters got worse for Levante when Garazi Fácila curled home a 78th-minute free-kick to double Eibar’s lead. Inés Rizo halved the deficit from Levante’s second penalty of the game, but it ultimately proved too little too late for the visitors.

As a result of the defeat, they are now seven points adrift of safety with just four games left to play, including an away clash with Barcelona in their next outing.

Alhama rescue point away to Dépor

Deportivo La Coruña came from behind to establish a 2-1 lead in their home meeting with Alhama. The hosts struck twice in quick succession in first half stoppage time to turn the game in their favour following Belén Martínez’s opener.

Alhama seemed to be on course for an 18th consecutive league defeat until Yiyi netted an 81st-minute equaliser. The 28-year-old turned the ball in from Aitana Zumárraga’s low cross to net her fourth Liga F goal of the campaign. Unfortunately for Alhama, the point does little for them in their survival fight, given the fact they are five points away from safety with just 12 points left to play for.

Granada, Atleti win on the road

Elsewhere, Granada celebrated an away win over Athletic Club. Manoly Baquerizo and Andrea Gómez grabbed a goal apiece in Saturday’s trip to Lezama. The only disappointment for Granada was that they were denied a fifth successive clean sheet by Ane Elexpuru’s 94th-minute strike. The Andalusian side look set to secure at least a top six finish, and mathematically, could still climb as high as fourth spot.

Priscila Chinchilla got Atlético Madrid off to the perfect start in their away clash against Badalona. After opening the scoring in the seventh minute, the Costa Rica international quickly doubled the visitors’ advantage with a stunning solo effort. Collecting the ball on the left flank, Chinchilla skipped away from a challenge and into the box before whipping the ball in at the far post.

The 24-year-old’s efforts looked to be in vain when Itziar Pinillos and Irina Uribe struck to pull the home side level. As it proved, Atleti showed great character to restore their lead through Júlia Bartel in the 84th minute. There was still time left for Luany to take Atleti’s tally to four to make sure of the three points and condemn Badalona to back-to-back defeats.

Sevilla’s poor form continues

Meanwhile, Costa Adeje Tenerife made light work of their home clash with Sevilla. Paola Hernández, Carlota Suárez and Natalia Ramos all found the net in a dominant first half for the team from the Canary Islands. While Tenerife made it five consecutive league games without defeat, Sevilla have now lost four matches on the bounce.

Did you know?

Granada are just a point away from equalling last season’s 45-point tally after recording a fifth consecutive victory.
