The Reds lost the corresponding fixture last season in what remains one of two home defeats in the league that Slot has suffered since being appointed.

Hopes of avoiding exacting revenge over Forest have been hit after the Dutchman revealed that neither Wirtz or Bradley will be available for selection on Saturday because of “muscular issues”.

“We do have some issues after the international break unfortunately,” Slot told reporters at the pre-match press conference on Friday morning.

“Conor Bradley is not able to play, Florian Wirtz is not able to play, that is far from ideal.”

When pushed for potential return dates for the pair, Slot added that he does not expect the Germany international to be sidelined for too long, but has predicted a three week absence for Bradley.

“I don’t expect Conor to be part of the upcoming 22 days, maybe in the end but not in the upcoming 22 days unless a miracle happens which I don’t expect,” Slot said.

“Florian, it depends on how things work but it shouldn’t have to be that long.”

In a boost for Liverpool, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker is fit again and in contention to make his return to the matchday squad for the visit of Forest.

"Alisson trained last week and this week so he will be able to play tomorrow if things work out well today,” Slot continued.

"If he's ready to play, he will start.”
