Giovanni Leoni’s stint in Liverpool is off to a rough start. The former Parma talent tore the ACL in his left knee in his debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup and will spend the next few months rehabbing, Sky reported.

The Reds beat the Serie A giants to the punch in the summer with a €31M offer, plus bonuses. However, they’ll have to wait to enjoy the fruits of their investments. The prodigy’s physical problem could benefit Federico Chiesa. The winger should be inserted in the Champions League list after being initially omitted. UEFA has started allowing one change in case of major injuries this season.

Fiorentina have also lost a newcomer to an ACL tear, Tariq Lamptey, as well. He went down in his first start versus Como during the weekend. He was one of the few wing players at Stefano Pioli’s disposal, as the coach moved from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 in such a tilt. He’ll have to come up with alternative solutions to remedy their poor start.

Alessandro Buongiorno continues to be slowed down by injuries during his time at Napoli. The center-back suffered a grade one right adductor longus strain in the final minutes of the Pisa game. He’ll miss at least the next three matches, including the upcoming clash with Milan and the Italy fixtures.

Lazio will be severely depleted in the midfield against Genoa and beyond. Matteo Guendouzi and Reda Belahyane were sent off in the Derby. The former received a two-game ban for insulting the referee. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru suffered a biceps femoris strain. Nicolò Rovella subbed off again due to groin pain, which has been plaguing him for a month. He might need surgery at some point, but he’ll try to tough it out for now.
