Liverpool have become the latest Premier League giants to be linked with a move for Lazio’s highly impressive midfielder Nicolo Rovella.
Earlier this week, reports in the Italian media claimed Manchester City have enquired about the 23-year-old’s availability adding that the Premier League champions are willing to put €40 million on the table for the Italy international who would arrive as a replacement for the injured Rodri.
However, Lazio president Claudio Lotito was quick to respond, insisting that his prized asset is not for sale. Nevertheless, the patron’s comments have done little to halt the circulating exit rumors, as La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) claiming that Liverpool are also interested in Rovella’s services.
But unlike Man City who are in dire need of immediate reinforcement, the Reds are in a healthy position as depicted by their Premier League standing, so they’re happy to wait for the summer to launch an onslaught for the player.
Rovella joined Lazio in the summer of 2023 on a two-year loan deal from Juventus with an obligation to buy. The Genoa youth product had his highs and lows in his first season at the Stadio Olimpico which was a turbulent campaign for the club in general.
But this season, the Genoa youth product has been growing from strength to strength, cementing himself as one of the best deep-lying playmakers in Italian football.
