Manuel Neuer recently confirmed he won't return to the German national team, but for Joachim Löw, there's no question that the goalkeeper is the country's best option.

"Neuer is probably the best goalkeeper of all time," said the former Germany head coach, in an interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de at a charity event.

"He completely reinvented the game and shaped it in a completely different way," Löw praised the long-time number one in for Die Mannschaft.

Löw is certain that Neuer has lost none of his exceptional quality and has been playing among the "absolute world elite" for 15 years, the 65-year-old continued.

“When you see him today at Bayern, the confidence and charisma he plays with, it's somehow like this for me: he stands above all the others in terms of the overall package,” he said.

The 2014 World Cup winning coach also spoke highly of Julian Nagelsmann, who he regards as a “very innovative coach with many good ideas” overseeing this current German side.

“Of course, it's not always easy for him, because the problems we're currently experiencing have been around for a while,” he said referring to the Germans' recent poor results.

"We may need a few solutions again to be among the world's best. We're not there. But Julian is definitely a coach who knows what he wants with the team. And I think he already has the right approach," Löw added.
