Barcelona faced off against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final clash. The Catalan club made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Eric Garcia scored an unfortunate own goal. Antoine Griezmann scored the home team’s second goal just seven minutes later before Ademola Lookman made it 3-0 to Atletico in the 33rd minute. Julian Alvarez added another goal in the latter stages of the first half as Hansi Flick’s men went into the half-time break 4-0 down on the scoreline.

Barcelona failed to mount a comeback in the second half and went down to ten men in the 85th minute when Eric Garcia was sent off by the referee. The contest finished with Barca suffering a dismal 4-0 loss in the Copa del Rey.

LB: Alejandro Balde – 5/10

He struggled to cope with the threat of the Atletico forwards and produced a disjointed performance at left-back.

CM: Marc Casado – 5.5/10

Casado got cautioned in the first half and was replaced in the 37th minute.

CM: Frenkie de Jong – 6/10

He failed to protect his backline but retained possession well at times in the middle of the park.

CM: Fermin Lopez – 7.5/10

Lopez was a constant menace in the final third but failed to find the back of the net.

RW: Lamine Yamal – 6/10

He struggled to impress during his time on the field.

ST: Ferran Torres – 6/10

He was quiet for most of his time on the field.

Olmo had a few bright moments in the game but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
