FC Red Bull Salzburg Women 0-0 LASK
After our attacking brilliance of recent weeks, the final cutting edge we needed to trouble LASK was largely absent today. Since their late efforts also proved fruitless, the match in Liefering ended in a goalless draw.
Our team made an active start under the floodlights of the Red Bull Football Academy. Initially, we found answers to our search for gaps in the Upper Austrian defence only in the form of set pieces. Vina Crnoja and Sophia Schirmbrand were responsible for our dead-ball play, with one of them producing the best chance for Aldina Hamzic: the centre-back turned and fired the ball into the side netting.
Just as the first half was drawing to a close, we finally created some chances – Sara Grabovac, set up by Theresa D’Angelo, curled the ball just over the bar.
Throughout the entire match, LASK couldn't quite hide why they have the third-weakest attack in the league. A long-range shot, which goalkeeper Lara Ritter skillfully saved shortly after the restart, brought the visitors' attacking highlights to an end for now.

Then right at the end both teams had chances for a last-minute victory. While Räämet headed the ball towards goal and Svibkova missed a one-on-one opportunity for the visitors, we were not able to net despite promising counter-attacks via Emily Schimm and Greta Spinn: visiting goalkeeper Gavillet kept a clean sheet, meaning we ultimately had to settle for a point.

We can live with the draw. It's a point gained, even though we had the chances for three and didn't really give them any opportunities. Overall, it was a pretty good team performance, but we didn't reward ourselves against – and this has to be said – really strong, physically imposing opponents. LASK can play football and have an extremely strong goalkeeper – she made some incredible saves against Greta at the end. We'll keep going!
