Lucas Paquetá could join list of more than 20 players coached by Filipe Luís at Flamengo | OneFootball

Flamengo are close to finalising a deal to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham. According to Coluna Do Fla, if the move goes through he would become the 26th former team-mate of Filipe Luís to be coached by the current Flamengo boss.

Paquetá has not worked under Filipe Luís at club level, only with Brazil. The pair featured together twice in friendlies against Qatar and the United States, sharing just 27 minutes on the pitch.

Both were selected for Brazil’s 2019 Copa América squad under Tite, the former Flamengo coach. They did not play together at that tournament.

Fifteen members of Flamengo’s current squad have previously played alongside Filipe Luís, including Rossi, Léo Pereira, Ayrton Lucas, Arrascaeta and Pedro.

Another nine players who once lined up with him at Flamengo have since departed, among them Gerson, Fabrício Bruno, Gabigol and David Luiz.

Paquetá held talks in England on Friday 16, with discussions covering key elements of a possible agreement between West Ham and Flamengo. A deal could be reached in the coming hours.
