Lucas Paquetá seals Flamengo return, ‘to travel’ to Rio on Wednesday

Flamengo have completed the signing of Lucas Paquetá after striking a deal with West Ham, bringing the midfielder back on a five-year contract.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Paquetá is due to travel to Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday 28. He is expected to land in the early hours of Thursday 29.

Paquetá was a leading target for Flamengo this window. Agreement between the player and the club had been in place for weeks, pending West Ham’s approval.

The final round of talks concluded positively, with Flamengo increasing their offer from 41 million euros to 42 million euros.

While supporters await his arrival, Flamengo open their Brasileirão campaign on Wednesday 28 against São Paulo at Morumbis, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time.
