Luis Díaz says he is ready to embrace the pressure of playing for Bayern Munich after completing his high-profile move from Liverpool this summer.
The Colombian winger was officially unveiled at his first press conference in Munich on Thursday, where he expressed his delight at joining one of Europe’s most decorated clubs.
"I'm very happy to be here in Munich at this great club,” said Díaz. “My first impressions have been very good. I haven't had much time yet, but I've been given a very warm welcome and I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better."
The 28-year-old arrives at Bayern as the third most expensive signing in the club’s history, but insisted his focus is purely on the pitch.
"I give everything for the team I play for. I can't say if I'm worth the transfer fee. But I'm glad the club decided to sign me. I like this club and want to settle in here as quickly as possible."
Díaz explained that Bayern’s ambition was a key factor in his decision to leave the Premier League and join the Bundesliga giants.
"I've decided to join Bayern because it's a club that fits with my goals. My expectations are very big, so I wanted to join a big, ambitious club. We want to win everything here and I want to help the team."
Asked if he had spoken to his former Colombia teammate James Rodríguez — who played for Bayern between 2017 and 2019 — Díaz said: "I haven't spoken to him a lot. We'll text each other and see what he can recommend to me about the city and the team. But I haven't had the chance to speak to him yet."
On the pitch, Díaz is expected to add pace, flair and directness to Bayern’s attack, and he confirmed he is ready to play in multiple roles if needed.
"I can play on the wing and upfront. The coach said he prefers me on the left, but I'll play wherever I'm needed. I want to help the team; that's my priority."
