Lukas Nmecha hailed new signing Tarik Muharemovic and praised Leeds United’s youngsters after the club’s latest pre-season outing.

The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back, a 34m capture and the club’s second costliest addition, made his Leeds debut on Thursday against Sunderland in New Jersey. He impressed at the heart of the defence as the Whites kept a clean sheet, with Nmecha’s eighth-minute strike from distance sealing a 1-0 win. "I think everyone saw how good he is straight away," said Nmecha of Muharemovic, speaking to LUTV.

"He looks so comfortable on the ball. "I think he had a very good first game and hopefully he can keep it going."

The tour group features a clutch of United youngsters in the USA, including another start for Callum Mills.

"I think even within the team, I think we have seen quite a lot of development from the young boys. "Last season a lot of them were with us but I think this pre-season they have really pushed on a little bit and showed some good qualities."
