The future of Lewandowski is one of the key talking points at FC Barcelona as the current season nears its conclusion. The Pole is in the final year of his contract with the Blaugrana club, and uncertainty has surrounded whether he will continue under Hansi Flick or move to another team.

Recent reports, however, suggest that Lewandowski’s stay at Camp Nou may be more likely than many expected. According to SPORT, Polish journalist Janusz Michallik explained on Kanał Sportowy that he had a conversation with Gregg Berhalter, head coach of MLS side Chicago Fire, who attempted to convince the striker to join his team.

The journalist detailed Berhalter’s assessment, saying: “The coach thinks Lewandowski will stay at Barcelona.”

Berhalter took the initiative to travel to Poland during the international break to speak with Lewandowski directly. While the American club remains keen on recruiting him, the operation appears complicated, and the striker’s response to the approach was reportedly negative.

The decision now lies in the hands of Flick and Deco. Lewandowski, who still feels capable of meeting the competitive demands of a team contending for every title, is reportedly willing to stay at Camp Nou for at least a fifth season.

For this to happen, agreements must be reached not only on economic terms but also on sporting considerations, as Flick aims to continue elevating the squad.

Even if he does not extend his contract, it is clear that Lewandowski has and will have opportunities to play elsewhere, including in the United States, Serie A, Saudi Arabia, or other leagues, although none offer the same competitive level as La Liga.

Based on Michallik’s assessment, however, it seems likely that the Polish striker will continue wearing the Barcelona shirt next season.
